Vernon Hosts Trail Tonight 2-4-16

The Vernon Vipers (26-15-4-5) welcome the Trail Smoke Eaters (24-21-0-4) for the 5th of 7 meetings this season.  The Vipers are 3-1 against Trail this season with two of those wins coming at Cominco.

The Vipers are coming in with something to prove after a disappointing OT loss to West Kelowna on Wednesday.  The positive is that the team was still able to get one point.  They have just 3 regulation losses in December and January combined.  Austin Adamson is playing his most productive hockey of late with points in 5 straight hockey games.

The Trail Smoke Eaters are feeling good about themselves these days after officially clinching a playoff spot thanks to an 8-3 win over the Coquitlam Express.  It’s the first time the Smokies have made the playoffs in a number of years and currently sit 9 points behind the Vipers in 3rd spot in the very tight Interior Division.  Goaltender Linden Marshall has really improved his game since committing to RPI and has 3 straight wins.  Kale Howarth has enjoyed playing against the Vipers this season with 4 goals.  The 19 year old product out of Red Deer also was at the CJHL Prospects game with Viper goaltender Ty Taylor.
