Vernon Kia Game Day – Vipers Look To Even Weekend With Warriors

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to even up their weekend set when they host the West Kelowna Warriors tonight at Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers (24-19-2-1) come into the game after a 3-2 loss in West Kelowna last night.  The Vipers got down 3-0 before getting a goal from Trey Taylor to make it 3-1 after 2.  Connor Sleeth would tally a shorthanded goal in the third, but thats as close as the Vipers would get.  Keegan Karki was solid in goal stopping 25 of 28.  The Vipers powerplay looks to turn it around after going 0 for 6.  They are 1 for their last 8 in the last 2 games.  On the other side of special teams the Vipers have killed off 23 of their last 25 penalties.

The Warriors (12-27-5-2) were winners last night 3-2 over the Vipers.  Levi Stauber, Carter Wilkie and Jacob Brockman had the goals.  Johnny Derrick was strong in goal stopping 25 of 27.  The Warrior penalty kill which has struggled at times was perfect killing off 5 of 5.  With the win, the Warriors have climbed to within 4 points of the Victoria Grizzlies for the 2nd wildcard spot.

Its the 4th of 7 meetings between these two teams with the Warriors holding a 2 games to 1 lead.
