After the Buzzer – Offense Explodes in Cowichan

Duncan, BC:  The Vernon Vipers found their offensive flair in Cowichan on Saturday night, downing the Capitals 9-3 at the Cowichan Community Centre.

It was the second highest scoring game of the season for the Vipers, who put up 10 over Cranbrook earlier in the season.

“Our group was able to do a lot of positive things on the offensive side of the game,” says Assistant Coach of the Vipers Lukas Lomicky.  “We got the lead early and that gave us the opportunity to take over the game and finish the road trip with the win.”

George Stavrianeas and Adam Csabi each had 2 goals, while Luke Bibby, Hank Cleaves, Erik Pastro, Isaac Tremblay and Etienne Lessard pitched in with singles.

“It was a great road trip in general,” says Stavrianeas.  “We gave it all we had and we got the four points we wanted.  We all enjoyed the win, but we have another big weekend coming up so it’ll be a good week of preparation for it.”

Colin Reay made 29 saves on 32 shots.

The Vipers powerplay was 2 for 3, while the PK killed off 3 of 5.

The Vipers will finish their 3-game road trip on Friday night when they head to the SOEC to face the Vees.
