After the Buzzer – Vipers Can’t Find Their Way Against Smokies

Trail, BC:  Luke Pakulak had a powerplay goal and Ethan David made 37 saves, but it wasn’t enough as the Vernon Vipers fell to the Trail Smoke Eaters by a 3-1 score at the Cominco Arena on Saturday night.

Pakulak had a handful of chances in the game and was finally rewarded in the second period while on a powerplay.

Discipline was a big factor in the game as the Vipers found themselves giving up 7 powerplay chances to the Smokies who struck twice including the game winner early in the 3rd period.

Ethan David held his team in it with a number of big saves including 18 in the second period alone.

Chase Stefanek led the way offensively for Trail with 2 goals and 1 assist.  Mathieu Cobetto-Roy had a goal and an assist.

Ryan Parker made 22 saves on 23 shots for his 9th win.

The Vipers finished 1 for 4 on the powerplay, while the PK finished with 5 kills on 7 chances.

Vernon will close up their three game road trip tomorrow afternoon in Cranbrook.
