Vernon, BC: The Vipers shook off a sluggish first period and thanks to multi goal efforts from Tyler Carpendale and Griffen Barr were able to defeat the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-2.
The Vipers were heavily outshot in the first period and found themselves down a goal after a Tucker Hartmann one timer.
The Vipers came out with a much better effort in the second and were rewarded for those efforts with 2 goals in just 46 seconds. Logan Lorenz tallied his second on a Nick Kent point shot, before Tyler Carpendale buried a rebound. The Silverbacks evened late as Drew Bennett potted home a rebound in the final minute.
In the third period the Vipers forecheck was responsible for the go ahead goal as Shostak and Carpendale caused a turnover and the latter rifled home his second of the game. Griffen Barr scored a beautiful, highlight reel goal a few minutes after that to give the Vipers a 4-2 lead. Barr would add one more into the empty net to seal the 5-2 win.
The Vipers are off for two days before they resume play on Friday against the West Kelowna Warriors.
