After the Buzzer – Vipers Drop Decision to Warriors

Vernon, BC:  Julian Facchinelli scored a powerplay goal, his fifth of the season, but that’d be the only offense of the night as the Vipers fell 5-1 to the West Kelowna Warriors on Friday night.

Facchinelli was Johnny on the spot as he was able to knock home a shot from Dylan Compton that kicked off Justin Katz’s blocker.  The goal came late on a powerplay in the first period.

West K opened the scoring on a Felix Caron goal.

The Vipers powerplay seemed to sputter after the first period.  A couple of chances couldn’t net them a result, then some penalty trouble.  Moments after a 5 on 3 powerplay ended, Matt Fusco, the eventual first star of the night ripped home a low shot to give the Warriors a lead they would not relinquish.

Ben MacDonald scored a beautiful goal late in the period after serving a minor that the Warriors killed off.

Things got physical in the third as young Luke Ashton squared off with Dylan Brooks in a spirited tilt.

The Warriors added two more goals from Jake Bernadet and Michael Salandra.

The Vipers and Warriors tied on the shot clock at an even 24.
