After the Buzzer – Vipers Fall in Shootout to West K

West Kelowna, BC:  Lee Parks, Seiya Tanaka-Campbell and Jonathan Horn had goals, while Roan Clarke turned aside 36 shots, but it wasn’t enough as the Vipers fell 4-3 in the skills competition.

Kailus Green opened the scoring to send the Teddy Bear’s flying a few minutes into the opening period following a Viper penalty.  The Warriors had the edge in play for a good chunk of the period.  Seiya Tanaka-Campbell was hauled down on a breakaway while shorthanded to earn a penalty shot.  Jonathan Horn would take the shot, but Justin Katz made the save.

Goals came fast and furious in the early stages of the second as Lee Parks evened the game up on a breakaway.  Ben MacDonald gave the Warriors a lead less than a minute later making it 2-1.  Seiya Tanaka-Campbell score on a powerplay to even up the game at 2.  Jonathan Horn gave the Vipers their first lead of the night on a strong individual effort for his first with his new team.

The Vipers powerplay had a number of looks in the third period, but they hit two goal posts keeping the game within one.  In the last few minutes Jaeden Moriello ripped home his 13th of the season to force OT.

Nothing would be solved in overtime.

Moriello would be the only one to find the back of the net in the shootout to give West Kelowna the 4-3 edge.

The Vipers are back home Saturday night when they take on the Wenatchee Wild.
