After the Buzzer – Vipers Take Down Smokies

Trail, BC:  Ethan David made 35 saves, Thomas Tien had a pair of assists and Isaac Tremblay hit the highlight reel as the Vernon Vipers downed the Trail Smoke Eaters 4-1 at the Cominco Arena on Friday night.

Tremblay’s goal came just before the last minute of the second period as he undressed a Smokie defender then outwaited Keegan Maddocks to tuck in his 7th goal of the season.  The goal stood up as the eventual game winner.

Thomas Tien who missed nearly a month of action pitched in with a pair of assists.  He now has 9 helpers on the season.

Dylan Compton, Lee Parks and Hank Cleaves had single markers all in similar fashion.  Parked on the doorstep for the rebound in front.  Three of Compton’s four goals have come on the road.

Ethan David, the game’s first star, stopped 26 through 40 minutes of play before finally being beaten on a point shot while shorthanded.  He finished the night with 35 on 36 for his 8th win of the season.

The Vipers penalty kill went 4 of 5 including two back to back in the middle period when the game was 1-0.  It continues to ride atop the BCHL standings, closing in on 87%.

Evan Bushy had the lone goal for Trail.  It was his 5th of the season.

Keegan Maddocks made 29 saves on 33 shots.

The Vipers will look to cap off a great weekend Saturday night when they visit the Cranbrook Bucks.
