Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers will look to wrap up their busy weekend on a good note as they travel to Merritt to take on the Centennials this afternoon.
The Vipers (17-12-1-1) come into the afternoon on a 3 game win streak following a 6-4 win over Wenatchee last night. Dawson Holt had 2 goals and 2 assists, while Cam MacDonald and Connor Marritt each chipped in with a 3 point night. James Porter Jr. stopped 34 of 38 for his first win in the BCHL. Matt Kowalski scored the Teddy Bear Toss goal making it the second consecutive year a Vernon product has scored the goal. Jagger Williamson had the goal last season. The Vipers powerplay has been red hot this weekend going 5 for 10 in the last 2 games. The Vipers have found their stride offensively with 14 goals combined.
The Centennials (8-20-1-1) are winless in their last 6 games. Their most recent outing was an 8-3 loss in Vernon on Friday night. The Cents remain a solid team on home ice with 6 of their 8 wins coming at the NVMA. This game will finish a wild week for Merritt. It saw them in Langley on Tuesday, Alberni Valley on Wednesday then of course Friday night in Vernon.
Its the 4th of 6 meetings between the two teams.
