Vernon Kia Game Day! – Vipers Host Smokies

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to finish their week with 4 of 6 points as they host the Trail Smoke Eaters for the final time this season.

The Vipers (27-22-2-1) come into the game following a tight 3-2 loss to the Nanaimo Clippers on Friday night.  The Vipers out shot the Clippers 28-21, but couldn’t find the equalizer late in the game.  Matt Kowalski and Connor Marritt each had goals and Reilly Herbst stopped 18 of 21.

The Smoke Eaters (33-14-2-2) come into the game following a big come from behind win on Friday night at home against the West Kelowna Warriors.  Trail scored 4 third period goals to erase a 3 goal deficit to win 5-4.  With that win the Smoke Eaters now know they can finish no lower than 2nd place in the Interior Division.  They currently sit 11 points behind Penticton for top spot in the Division.

The Vipers currently sit in 5th place in the division two points behind Salmon Arm  and 1 point behind Wenatchee.  Both teams are idle today and this is a game in hand on the Wild.

Its a Sunday matinee which means there is a skate with the Vipers after the game.
