Vipers Complete Trade With Rivermen

Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers would like to announce that they have traded Luke Ashton and the playing rights to Copeland Fricker to the Langley Rivermen in exchange for forwards Owen Kim (04) and Walker Gelbard (05).

"Luke was looking for a new opportunity so we were able to make a real good deal with Langley adding two very good forwards in Owen and Walker who play with a ton of tenacity," says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee. "Both players are expected to make a big impact and fill roles on our hockey team for next season."

Kim, of North Vancouver, has played 103 games in the BCHL. During that time he has 28 goals and 24 assists. He is committed to College of the Holy Cross in the NCAA Division 1 program.

Walker Gelbard, of West Vancouver, has spent time with Cranbrook and Langley. He was a member of the Bucks as a 16 year old in the Pod Season. He has suited up for 108 BCHL games. Gelbard had 4 assists in 6 playoff games this past year with Langley.

We'd like to wish Luke all the best in Langley and welcome Owen and Walker and their families to the Vipers organization.
