Vipers continue road trip in Nanaimo

Tonight is first of two meetings between the Vernon Vipers & Nanaimo Clippers. The Vipers went 1-1-0-0 vs Nanaimo last year.

The Vernon Vipers make their first and only regular season visit this year to the Frank Crane Arena. The Vipers have won just three times in Nanaimo since the 2003-04 season. The Vipers last win in Nanaimo was a 6-4 victory on January 18th 2013. Vernon is coming off a 3-0 loss in Powell River Friday. Tonight is the fourth game of a current five game road trip where the Vipers are 1-2. Tonight is the sixth straight game the Vipers have played a team from either the Island or Mainland Division. Vernon has lost three of their last four games on the road. Since the 2003-04 regular season Vernon is 14-6-0-2 vs. Nanaimo.

Steven Jandric (6-5-11) leads the team lead in goals with six while Odeen Tufto (4-8-12) leads the team lead in points with twelve.

Lets take a look at the Nanaimo Clippers:

Tonight is the first of back to back games vs the Interior Division Vernon Vipers. The Clippers host the Vipers tonight before travelling to Vernon Friday in the second and final regular season meeting between these two teams.  Since the 2003-04 regular season the Clippers are 7-3 at home vs Vernon. The Clippers will play six of their next ten games at home. The Clippers are coming off a 4-2 victory over the visiting Coquitlam Express Friday have won back to back games. Nanaimo sits 2nd in the Island Division are tied in points with Division leading Powell River are three points up on Cowichan. Nanaimo has ten players back from last years team.

Mathew Hoover (8-7-15) leads the team lead in goals with eight while, Sheldon Rempal (7-9-16) leads the team lead in scoring with sixteen points.
