Vipers Cut Down To 26 Players

Vipers Cut Down To 26 Players

Vernon Vipers second pre-season test will come Friday in Salmon Arm, and head coach and GM Jason Williamson likes what he's seen in camp so far.

"I thought it went really well. Our guys competed, the players we expected to be good coming into camp, were good and we had a few surprises, so all in all, it's been good so far," says Williamson.

The Vipers — who cut down from 60 to 26 players on the weekend — beat Penticton 5-3 in their first exhibition game Saturday at Kal Tire Place.

"We're down to 15 forwards, nine defencemen and two goalies. We have to make two more cuts up front and two more on defence," says Williamson.

The Vipers open the regular season September 19 against the Cowichan Capitals at the BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.
