Vipers Game Day! – Vipers Kick Off Home and Home With Backs

Vernon, BC:  The Vipers are hoping some momentum built from last weekend will carry over as they search for their first win of the Okanagan Cup Tournament hosting the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The Vipers (0-4) had a narrow loss against Penticton on Saturday.

“We had some very good looks and felt like we deserved a better fate,” said Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.  “It was a good building block, but now we need to put that together for a full 60 minutes.”

The Vipers made a trade earlier in the week acquiring Will Arquiett from the Cowichan Valley Capitals.  Arquiett will make his Vipers debut tonight.

The Vipers are hoping the injury bug has finished with their group as they had 8 players out of the lineup.

The Silverbacks (1-3) split last weekend with the Warriors in a pair of tight hockey games.

The Backs had a huge contribution from 19 year old rookie Danny Ciccarello who rang up a hat trick on Friday night.  He currently leads the team with 4 goals in 4 games.

Defensively its been a struggle for the team as they surrendered 15 goals in their opening weekend, before tightening up against West Kelowna.

You can catch all the action on HockeyTV, 107.5 Beach Radio, Vernon Matters and for Friday night you can watch on Shaw TV.
