Vipers Game Day – Vipers Kick Off Post Season in West K

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to kick off their chase for the Fred Page Cup tonight when they head to West Kelowna for Game 1 of their first round series with the Warriors.

The Vipers finished the regular season with a record 27-20-4-3.  They capped off the season with a 10-3 win over the Trail Smoke Eaters.  The Vipers finished with a 16-10-1 record at home and 11-10-3-3 on the road.  Luke Buss finished as the leading scorer for Vernon with 16 goals and 20 assists.  Roan Clarke saw the bulk of the action in goal appearing in 38 of the 54 games and racking up 18 wins in the process.

The Warriors finished the season in third place in the Interior Conference with a record of 37-16-1-0.  They were the hottest team down the stretch finishing the campaign on a 10-game win streak.  The Tribe finished 20-6-1 at home while accumulating a nice road record of 17-10.  Felix Trudeau was the team leader in points with 61.  Johnny Derrick appeared in 38 games for West K with 24 wins.

The Vipers special teams were up and down through the season finishing 12th on the powerplay and 9th on the PK.  The Warriors were 3rd with the man advantage and 4th on the penalty kill.  West K finished tied for 3rd with shorthanded goals scored with 10.

The Warriors took the regular season matchups by a 4-1 margin outscoring the Vipers 21-12.
