Vipers Game Day – Vipers Road Trip Continues In Trail

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to stay hot as their road trip continues through the Kootenays as they take on the Trail Smoke Eaters at the Cominco Arena.

The Vipers (13-14-3-3) are winners of 6 straight hockey games coming in.  Their most recent victory coming Saturday night, a 2-1 overtime win over Prince George.  Nick Kent scored in regulation and Reagan Milburn scored the game winner.  Roan Clarke made 29 saves in the victory.  Clarke has been phenomenal in his last 5 starts, all wins.  He’s given up just 8 goals in his last 5 starts, his goals against average in that span is just under 1.6.

The Smoke Eaters (16-15-1-1) come into the game following a tough 10-5 loss in West Kelowna on Saturday.  The Smoke Eaters weren’t lacking offensive punch last weekend as they scored 13 goals in 2 games.  Trail is 4-5-0-1 in their last 10 games, but continue to put up points on home ice.  The Smokies home record is 11-7.

Trail just sits 2 points above the Vipers in the standings.  This is the fourth meeting of the season.  So far the Vipers are 2-0-1 against the Smokies, outscoring them 9-7.  The last time these two teams played head to head at Cominco, the Smoke Eaters won 3-2 in a shootout.
