Vipers Lose 4-1 in Game 2

Prince George, BC:  The Vernon Vipers continued to play some good hockey, but ran into some tough luck and some good goaltending as they fell 4-1 in Game 2.

The Vipers came out buzzing in the first period with some great opportunities and hemming the Spruce Kings in their own zone for a good chunk of the period.  PG still generated a great chances as Chong Minn Lee clanked one off the goal post.  PG had the only goal as Ben Brar deflected a shot from the left circle over the shoulder of Porter to make it 1-0 after 1 period.

The Vipers had a great chance early in the period but couldn’t convert on an empty cage.  That proved costly as 15 year old AP Fin Williams scored his first BCHL goal to make it 2-0.  Jesse Lansdell was the recipient of a long overdue fortunate bounce as a centering pass banked in off a PG defender to make it 2-1.  Some penalty trouble cost the Vipers late in the period as Nick Bochen struck on a 5 on 3 to make it 3-1 after 2 periods.

In the third, the Vipers pushed to try get within one and had a number of good looks, but had the shots blocked, stopped or just missed.  The Vipers had a powerplay midway thru and controlled the puck for the full two minutes, but just couldn’t find the back of the net.  With the goalie pulled late, Ben Brar hit the empty net for his second goal of the night to make the final 4-1.

Game 3 of the series will go Tuesday night at Kal Tire Place.
