Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the signing of 2006-born defenceman Döme Szongoth for the 2025-26 BCHL season.
Szongoth, from Budapest, Hungary, spent last season in the German U20 league where he tallied an impressive 38 points in 36 games. The 6’2” defenceman brings a strong blend of size, skating, and offensive ability to the Vipers’ blue line.
“We are excited to see how Döme’s game translates to the North American size ice,” says Vipers Assistant Coach Mike Sommer. “He’s a great skater, who makes a solid first pass and with his size, can be physical. We’re happy to add him to the lineup for this season.”
For Szongoth, the choice to join Vernon was an easy one:
“Joining the Vernon Vipers was a very quick decision for me. I wanted to take a step forward to develop myself. I really enjoy being here in Vernon, surrounded by a lot of good people.”
The Vipers would like to officially welcome Döme and his family to Vernon and the organization.
