After the Buzzer – McCloskey Scores Twice as Vipers Win Fourth Straight

Prince George, BC:  Lukas McCloskey scored two goals, six minutes apart in the second period and Colin Reay turned away 38 PG shots as the Vipers defeated the Spruce Kings 3-1 at Kopar Memorial Arena on Saturday night.

McCloskey, the games first star, scored his 2nd and 3rd goals of the season.

“We’re a really good team when we lock down the defensive end,” says McCloskey.  “We did a good job of getting guys to the net front in the offensive zone.  It definitely feels good to contribute offensively with goals that helped decide the game.”

Hank Cleaves opened the scoring midway through the first period with his 14th of the season.  Adam Csabi assisted on all three goals and was named the second star of the game.

“Last night was a really good road win for our group,” says Assistant Coach of the Vipers Colton Sparrow.  “We had players step up in other players absences and the job done.  I’m happy without our effort.”

Colin Reay continued the hot streak the Vipers netminders have been on making 38 of 39 saves for his 10th win of the season.

The Vipers discipline was much improved from the night before only taking one minor penalty and killing it off.

Kilian McGregor-Bennett had the lone PG goal, his 20th of the season.

Charlie Zolin had 29 saves on 32 shots.

The Vipers will finish the regular season portion of their schedule starting Friday night against Prince George.
