After the Buzzer – Vipers Get Back in Win Column with Victory in PG

Prince George, BC:  Luke Bibby and Julian Facchinelli had a goal and an assist, Ewan McPherson scored his first BCHL goal and Ethan David had 29 saves on 32 shots as the Vipers defeated the Prince George Spruce Kings 5-3.

“I thought it was a pretty gutsy effort from our group tonight,” says Assistant Coach of the Vipers Colton Sparrow.  “It’s not an easy place to play.  We’ll take the two points and reset for tomorrow.”

Luke Bibby got the scoring started in the first period.  The Vipers would add three goals in the middle frame from Anthony Cliche, Shea Busch and Ewan McPherson.

“It was a good win tonight,” says Luke Bibby.  “It’s nice to get two points on the road.  We need to get some rest tonight and get back at it tomorrow.  We’ll need to clean up a couple of thing on our end and we’ll be ok.”

Special Teams was a focal point tonight.  Despite taking too many penalties, the Vipers PK was strong when it needed to be, finishing the night killing 5 of 7.

Ethan David was busiest in the 3rd period keeping the Prince George comeback at bay.

Julian Facchinelli hit the empty net to seal the win.

Alexis Cournoyer, JR Perdion and Kilian McGregor-Bennett had the PG goals.  Charlie Zolin was busy in the PG crease stopping 38 of 42.

These two teams will play the weekend finale Saturday night at 6pm.
