After the Buzzer – Vipers Fall in Home Opener

Vernon, BC:  Julian Facchinelli scored his first BCHL goal, but it was the only offense the Vipers would receive as they fell to the Salmon Arm Silverbacks by a 4-1 score on Saturday night.

Nathan Morin opened the scoring just three minutes in as he jumped on a rebound from a scrum in front of the goal.  A few minutes later Owen Beckner pounced on a loose puck from a point shot making it 2-0 for the Silverbacks after 1 period.

CJ Foley increased the lead while 4 on 4 as he kept on a 2 on 1 rush then snapped a shot to the glove side of Ethan David.  Nathan Mackie scored his second goal of the season shortly after to make it 4-0 Salmon Arm.  Late in the period Julian Facchinelli finished off a nice drive from left to right and tucked in his first BCHL goal to get the Vipers within 3.

That was as close as they'd get on this night.

"We didn't play well tonight," says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Jason McKee.  "As the game went on, I thought we played a bit better, but we just didn't do enough today to give ourselves a chance to win."

The Vipers will look forward to a few days of practice before hitting the road for a pair of games in Prince George.
