After the Buzzer – Vipers OT Heroics Continue with Win in PG

Prince George, BC:  Nick Kent scored in regulation time and Reagan Milburn had the overtime winner as the Vernon Vipers won their sixth straight game and fifth straight in extra time, 2-1 over the Prince George Spruce Kings.

The Vipers had a good start to the first period thanks to a few powerplays.  They had a few looks on those chances, but failed to find the twine.  PG opened the scoring as Nick Rheaume ripped off a shot from the right circle off the glove of Clarke and into the back of the net.  The Vipers would outshoot the Spruce Kings 9-7, but trailed 1-0 after 1.

The Vipers PK had to put their work boots on in the second period having to kill off just under 8 minutes.  They were able to kill off while surrendering minimal chances against thanks to some key shot blocks and some big saves by Clarke.  Nick Kent tied the game up with a nice individual effort late in the period with his 5th of the season.

It was a chess match in the third with just 5 shots a piece put up on the board and for the second straight night overtime was required.

In overtime, the Spruce Kings put up a number of chances, but Clarke was strong to keep the game tied.  Late in the fourth period Reagan Milburn swept through the neutral zone and from the left wing rifled a puck over the shoulder of Aaron Trotter to give the Vipers the win to wrap up their weekend swing in PG.

The Vipers road trip continues Wednesday night as they head to Trail to take on the Smoke Eaters.
