After the Buzzer – Vipers Shootout Magic Continues For 9th Straight Win

Cranbrook, BC:  Seiya Tanaka-Campbell scored his first goal of the season and Ethan David stopped 34 of 35, but for the second straight night the Vipers needed shootout magic to extend their win streak to 9 games with a 2-1 win in Cranbrook.

It was a chess match of a first period which saw very few shots and scoring chances.  The Vipers PK killed off the only powerplay of the period.  Johnny Johnson scored a buzzer beating with less than a second left to give Cranbrook the 1-0 lead.

In the second, Ethan David made a stellar save to keep it 1-0.  The Vipers equalized later as Seiya Tanaka-Campbell knocked home a rebound to even the game up at 1.

The Bucks found their legs in the third but couldn’t solve David or the Vipers defensive structure and for the second straight night overtime would be needed.

Each team had two shots in the extra period, but nothing was solved.

Liam Hansson scored first in the shootout and Zack Tonelli had a rare miss.  Tyson Dyck was stopped by David and Seiya was thwarted by Airey.  Noah Quinn was stopped and Luke Buss had to score to keep the shootout going.  He scored post and in to even it up.  Zeth Kindrachuk was stopped and Anthony Cliche would get the opportunity to win it for his team.  A nice move to the backhand later and the Vipers were once again victorious.

The Vipers have seven straight wins in extra time and are now 7-7-2-3 away from Kal Tire Place.

The Vipers will wrap up the road trip Wednesday night in Penticton.
