Vernon Kia Game Day! – Vipers Visit Vees to Wrap Up Weekend

Vernon, BC:  The Vernon Vipers look to continue their winning ways tonight when they put a 5 game win streak on the line at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton.

The Vipers (19-12-1-1) come into the night following a gutsy 2-0 win at home over Penticton.  Seiya Tanaka-Campbell had his first BCHL goal, while James Porter Jr. was spectacular turning aside all 42 shots put his way.  It was the third shutout of the season for the Vipers and from three different goaltenders.  Matt Kowalski was able to increase his point streak to 12 games with an assist on the Tanaka-Campbell goal.  Trey Taylor gave the Vipers some breathing room with a great finish late in the third.  The Vipers are now 12-5 against the Interior Division.

The Vees (25-10-1-0) saw a two game win streak come to an end last night.  The Vees put 42 shots at the goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net.  Liam Malmquist had a number of good looks last night as did Danny Weight who is 2nd on the team in scoring.  Carl Stankowski wasn’t tested often, but the ones that got past him were Grade A chances.  Last night the Vees played their league leading 24th road game.  Tonight will be just their 13th home game.

Its the fourth of seven meetings tonight at the SOEC with the Vipers leading the season series 2-1.  Goal scoring has continued to be at a premium in the season set with 1-0, 2-1 and 2-0 scores.
