The Vernon Vipers shook off any pre-season winless worries with an effort that was well deserving of a victory. The Vipers offense struck 6 times and the special teams stood tall in the 3rd as the Snakes took game 1 of the regular season by a 6-3 score.
Jimmy Lambert paced the goal scoring with 2 goals, Hunter Zandee, Steven Jandric, Niko Karamanis and Derek Osik had singles. Ty Taylor in his BCHL debut was very steady turning aside 31 of 34 Salmon Arm Shots.
Both teams had shorthanded goals, but the Viper PK was stellar killing off 6 of 7 Salmon Arm Powerplays.
Next up for the Vipers is a return date with the Silverbacks, this time at Kal Tire Place.
