Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers have acquired 2005-born defenceman Shawn Leary from the Surrey Eagles in exchange for 2007-born defenceman Taylor Curtis and a Player Development Fee (PDF).
“After speaking with Scott Gomez and receiving a strong recommendation, Shawn quickly became our top target to help this group down the stretch,” said Vipers GM and Head Coach Matt Cooke. “He’s a fantastic puck mover with significant offensive instincts, and we expect him to come in and fit seamlessly as we push toward the playoffs.”
Leary, a native of Dorchester, Massachusetts, is in his second BCHL season, both spent with Surrey. In 70 BCHL games, he has recorded 10 goals and 18 assists.
The Vipers would like to thank Taylor Curtis for his time with the organization and wish him the best with Surrey.
Please join us in welcoming Shawn and his family to the Vipers organization.
The Vipers return to action Friday night, hosting the Spruce Grove Saints at 7:00 PM.
