Vipers Game Day – Vipers Host Warriors

Vernon, BC:  The Vipers will look to keep their win streak alive as they play the West Kelowna Warriors for the first time since early December.

The Vipers (23-17-4-3) come in having won both games last week.  Most recently the Snakes put up 9 goals (which tied a season high) over the Merritt Centennials.  The Vipers outscored Prince George and Merritt 11-0 in the 2 games they played.  Zack Tonelli and Luke Buss were both honourable mentions in the BCHL Stars of the Week, each registered 5 points.  Each Vipers goaltender made 22 saves for shutouts.  The Vipers now have 5 clean slates on the season.  The Vipers penalty kill was a combined 8 for 8 in both games.

The Warriors (29-16-1-0) come in having won back to back games.  Saturday night was a 5-0 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings.  Justin Katz made 31 saves for the win.  It was his second shutout of the season, the first of which came in Salmon Arm back in November.  John Evans has been hot of late with 7 points in his last 3 games which was good enough to earn him the BCHL’s number 1 star of the week.  The PK has been hot for the tribe killing off 13 straight powerplays.

This is the fourth of five head to head meetings with the Warriors holding a 2-1 edge.
