Vipers Game Day! Vipers Renew Acquaintances With Warriors

Vernon, BC:  The last time the Vipers and the Warriors went head to head it was in the semi-finals of the Okanagan Cup.  That night the Vipers downed West K to move on to the finals.  There were fireworks at the end of the game continuing a nice rivalry.  That rivalry is set to be renewed when these two tangle this afternoon.

The Vipers (1-0-0) come into the game following a strong showing in the season opener with a 4-1 victory over Salmon Arm.  Jack Glen and Ryan Shostak led the way with each tallying a goal and an assist.  James Porter Jr. was fantastic turning aside 32 of 33 Salmon Arm shots.  A key in the result was special teams as the Vipers powerplay went 2 for 3 and the penalty kill was a perfect 3 of 3.

The Warriors (1-0-0) had a come from behind victory last night downing Salmon Arm 2-1.  Benjamin Woodside had a powerplay goal while Carter Wilkie scored the game winner with just under 90 seconds left in regulation.  Zach Bennett got the nod in goal stopping 32 of 33 shots.

This is the first of 10 meetings over the next 5 weeks between these two teams!
