Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of 2006-born forward Alexander Eklof for the 2026-27 BCHL season.
The Gothenburg, Sweden native joins the Vipers after spending the past two seasons with Frölunda HC J20, competing in Sweden’s highest level of junior hockey.
Over the past two seasons, Eklof recorded 17 goals and 23 assists for 40 points while establishing himself as a trusted two-way forward. The 6-foot-1, 193-pound forward also brings significant leadership experience, having previously captained Frölunda’s J18 team before serving as an assistant captain at the J20 level.
“Alex brings some outstanding leadership qualities to our group,” said Head Coach and General Manager Matt Cooke. “He’s been trusted in leadership roles throughout his development, including as a captain at the J18 level and an assistant captain with the J20 team. He’s very good in the faceoff circle and is about as defensively responsible as they come. He understands the details of the game and can be trusted in a lot of different situations. We’re excited to work with Alex and help add some more offensive layers to his game.”
Eklof is looking forward to making the move to North America and beginning his first season with the Vipers.
“I’m super excited to be joining the Vipers and to have the opportunity to play in Vernon,” said Eklof. “I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates and coaches, getting to know the community and experiencing hockey in Canada. I can’t wait to see everyone at Kal Tire Place and around Vernon. I’m ready to get to work and do everything I can to help the team have a successful season.”
