Vernon, BC: The Vernon Vipers are pleased to announce the commitment of 2008-born forward Roman Lavery for the 2026-27 BCHL season.
The Nanaimo, BC native joins the Vipers following a breakout offensive season with Pacific Coast Academy U18 Prep.
Lavery was a dominant offensive presence, scoring 32 goals and adding 29 assists for 61 points in just 30 games. He also gained junior hockey experience as an affiliate player with the Oceanside Generals of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL). Over six games with the Generals during the past two seasons, Lavery recorded 3 goals and 2 assists while playing as a 16 and 17-year-old.
Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 193 pounds, Lavery brings size, scoring ability and a physical presence to the Vipers’ forward group.
“Roman thrives below the dots and in the low slot, where he’s willing to go to the difficult areas to create offence,” said Head Coach and General Manager Matt Cooke. “He uses his size extremely well to lean on defenders, absorb contact and continue making plays in heavy traffic. He plays a heavy game that can dictate the pace and create space for his linemates. When you combine those qualities with his ability to finish around the net, there’s a lot to like about his game and his potential. We’re excited to help him take that next step here in Vernon.”
Lavery is grateful for the opportunity to begin the next chapter of his hockey career with the Vipers.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Vernon Vipers organization,” said Lavery. “I’m really looking forward to getting to Vernon, meeting my teammates and coaches, and getting to know the community and the fans. I’m excited to continue developing my game, contribute in any way I can and help the team have a successful season. I can’t wait to get started.”
