Season Series: The Vipers went 4-3 against West Salmon Arm in the regular season. One of the games needed overtime.  In a strange turn, the usual goal differential, win or loss, was 3.    Only two games this season were one goal games.  Salmon Arm outscored Vernon by a narrow margin of 22-1 over seven games. The Viper goaltending split against the Silverbacks during the regular season, Clarke was 2-1 with a .920 Save Percentage, while David went 2-2 with a 888 Save Percentage.

Tonight: The Vipers will look to keep their consistent play going heading into round 2.  They won 3 of their last 4 games and have surrendered just one goal against in their last 3 games.  Vernon found their offensive and maintained their defensive play outscoring their opponent 12-1 in games 4, 5 and 6.  Ethan David had a strong opening round of the playoffs going 4-0, a GAA of 1.29 and a Save Percentage of .949 with a league leading two shutouts.

Playoffs Top Scorer: Nathan Mackie (2-3-5), Ethan Ullrick (2-3-5), Brandon Santa Juana (1-4-5)

Outlook: The Silverbacks quickly dispatched of the Prince George Spruce Kings in the opening round of the playoffs, sweeping PG four straight.

Two of the four games were one goal games, including the elimination game which went to two overtimes.

The Shaw Centre has been an extremely difficult place for the opposition to play.  Combined with the regular season, the Silverbacks are 20-5-2-2 on home ice.

Matthew Tovell has been a workhorse all year long suiting up for 47 regular season games.  That didn’t seem to be a detriment to his post season so far as he has gone 4-0 with a GAA of 1.53 and a Save Percentage of .945.
